The Nové Hamry region is a great destination for a walking vacation. There is an extensive and accessible network of walking paths and trails, linking villages that are often just a few miles apart. You don't have to be a "serious" walker to enjoy hiking here. There are trails for people of all abilities, including many hikes which are very suitable for families with younger children.

The countryside is absolutely beautiful with incredible, often unexpected variety. Walking paths take you through woods, up to hills and abandoned villages. The area surrounding the Ore mountains is a designated natural park Jelení. The countryside is rich with bits of history and evidence of life from other times, and on foot you'll discover special places that aren't in the tourist guidebooks. From various viewpoints, when the conditions are right, you can see breathtaking views all around. Maps are easily available, and you can get good information on circular walks.

When to Hike Winter, spring and fall are the ideal times to hike in Nové Hamry region. 

Loving local trains traveling you may enjoy to take the train from Nové Hamry to Pernink. "Ore mountains Semmering" as this local railroad track is called overcomes 360 m elevation difference meanders throughout mountain beauty of peak areas up to watershed of Blatenský brook. Starting at Pernink's railway station the 2nd highest located in Bohemia you may follow tourist trail to experience pleasure of 5 km long walk back to Nové Hamry.

Summer

There is no doubt that the best way to see all around is to immerse yourself in the sights, smells and sounds of the countryside on a bike. Cycling is big in the Nové Hamry region, whether on the road or off-road. The region is gently hilly and many of the villages are on top of a short, sharp hill, but as a consolation they are not far apart.
